Mature Sweet Hart Chestnut treeSWEET HART ™ CHESTNUT (Castanea) - Blight-resistant, semi-timberform tree to 60' tall with small (¾") highly nutritious, low-fat, sweet nut.  A cross between Hawks Chinese Chestnut and a sweet chestnut from West Virginia. Needs open well-drained site.  Can grow 2' or more per year. Bears nuts in the fall usually within 3-5 years of planting.  One acre of mature trees can produce over 2000 lbs of nuts.  Great for wildlife and people.  Produces more consistently than oaks.
